Monday, April 14, 2025 at 7:30 PM until 8:30 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

Students will have the opportunity to share experiences of belonging and community through an interactive discussion. Dr. Ashby will reference excerpts from teacher accounts and ethnographies, such as Learning in Small Moments: Life in an Urban Classroom by Daniel R. Meier and Ability Profiling and School Failure: One Child's Struggle to be Seen as Competent by Kathleen Collins to connect those experiences with broader issues of belonging, inclusivity, and academic access.

    Outcomes include:
    *Networking with like-minded peers
*Experience concepts discussed in a first-year class
*Knowledge of an educator’s role in fostering and maintaining community in the classroom
