What kind of world made the man who was capable of producing so many of the world’s literary masterpieces, and what kind of life did he live? Many of our ideas about Shakespeare were formed in the 19th century, and yet we have inherited them as facts. Led by Professor Dympna Callaghan, this lecture and discussion will explore who Shakespeare was in relation to who we think he is.
