Introduction to Aerospace Engineering (Virtual Sample Class)

Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 7:00 PM until 8:00 PMEastern Standard Time UTC -05:00

With the growth of the commercial spaceflight industry, more engineers than ever need to understand the basics of orbital mechanics. This class will focus on the basic ideas associated with the universal gravitation law, energy balance, and simple orbital calculations. Thought experiments will allow students to “discover” why all geo-stationary satellites orbit at the same distance from the Earth. The professor will be Dr. John Dannenhoffer, who is a professor of Aerospace Engineering. Following the class portion, Dr. Dannenhoffer will be available to answer questions about the Aerospace Engineering program or about the College of Engineering and Computer Science in general. We will encourage you to enable your audio and video to engage with us and ask questions.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
